Amy Shark was nervous about gigging online but she’s now addicted to the new concert era, where she revealed how Mick Fanning helped her.

Amy Shark started anxious and finished addicted to the new world of live gigs online when she joined the Together At Home concert series on Friday.

Opening her IG TV stream, the Adore award-winner admitted she had been hesitant to take her performance talents online.

As fans and supporters rallied her to perform over the past couple of weeks, the songwriter who made her mark with anthems about vulnerability shared she hadn’t been in the right headspace to do so.

“Although my anxiety levels are through the roof right now, I think this is a really fantastic thing to do so here I am, Amy Shark, going live in my house,” she said before becoming totally distracted by the reams of live comments flooding her screen.

More than 1000 fans tuned in as she kicked off her set with a couple of minutes of Deleted, one of her earliest releases about a heavy crush which features the almost-appropriate for social distancing lyrics “Can’t believe we’re sitting, talking, just under a metre apart.”

Shark honoured the requests for a positively ancient track, Spits On Girls, which she released back in 2014, getting the thumbs up from famous fans watching the show, including tennis legend Rennae Stubbs and Ricki-Lee Coulter.

Her comments section revealed the vast reach of her fanbase with her loyal “Shark Cult” members joined by followers from Canada, Texas, Denver, New York, New Jersey, England and Turkey.

When asked to name her favourite shark, the musician cited the Great White and revealed she had gone cage-swimming with the magnificent creatures alongside champion surfer and fellow Gold Coast native Mick Fanning.

“I watched Jaws way too young and became obsessed with sharks (but) I have had horrible nightmares, gave myself nosebleeds,” she said.

“So to be able to go into a cage with them was really awesome for me. I got to see how calm they are.

“Mick Fanning is like the shark whisperer, he’s the best person to go and dive with sharks.”

Aussie star’s life in ‘virtual hospital’

There were hearts emojis galore on the feed when she busted out a stunning rendition of the Tracy Chapman hit Talkin’ Bout A Revolution, a song she often played in her set as a pub covers act before she finally realised her dream of recording her own songs.

“I used to play it in the pubs … it’s a little bit emotional but that’s what I do,” she said.

The heartwrenching Leave Us Alone also got an airing thanks to it appearing as a regular request on the feed, with people urging her to book an acoustic tour when the COVID-19 ban on mass gatherings ends.

She revealed she has many new songs ready to go for her second album.

“When it’s coming out, I don’t know. No one does,” she said.

Shark’s last big gig was in front of 75,000 people at the Fire Fight Australia concert at ANZ Stadium on February 16, 2020 in Sydney, Australia.

As she performed her break-out hit Adore, fans shared stories of how the song had affected their own lives with one revealing it soundtracked the first dance at her wedding and another telling her how she “made the leap to move in with my long distance boyfriend.”

Shark finished her Together At Home session with her smash hit I Said Hi, declaring “we should do this again” and reiterating the COVID-19 hygiene and social distancing messaging.

“We will get through this, it’s what we do. We are a very strong world and I can’t wait to see you guys on the other side,” she said.

The Together At Home series is a joint venture by Global Citizen and WHO to keep people entertained while staying in self-isolation and alleviate loneliness and anxiety.

Other artists to perform for the sessions this week included James Bay, Gloria Gaynor and Jewel.

Meanwhile, the third Isol-Aid weekend festival line-up has been confirmed with dozens of Australian artists lining up to perform via their social pages and help raise money for music charity Support Act, a not-for-profit which helps not only musicians but associated industry employees.

Among those busting out sets on the weekend are Tim Rogers, John Butler, Ella Hooper, Clare Bowditch, Katie Noonan, San Cisco, Emily Wurramurra, Bad/Dreems and Meg Mac, with the festival kicking off at noon and finishing after midnight.

Fans who tune will also be asked to donate to artist bandcamp and Patreon pages to help supplement their income in the wake of the COVID-19 bans on concerts and mass gatherings.
