TURNBULL Government Minister Scott Ryan has returned to work after two months’ leave to deal with serious health issues.
The Special Minister for State was back at work yesterday after dealing with the undisclosed illness.
He will not be taking over management of the government’s $122 million postal survey on same-sex marriage, which comes under his portfolio.
Finance Minister Mathias Cormann will continue to oversee the controversial survey until results are announced on November 15.
Senator Ryan will return to his previous work on a major overhaul of parliamentarians’ entitlements and work expenses, which the Turnbull Government announced earlier this year after former Health Minister Sussan Ley resigned her portfolio.
He will also continue to work on introducing laws which include a crackdown on Medi-scare style campaigns by making it a criminal offence to impersonate a Commonwealth entity, company or service.
Senator Ryan initially took a short period of leave in early July to deal with unspecified longstanding medical issues.
On July 28, he announced he would be taking an indefinite period of leave after further complications with the illness developed.
Senator Ryan asked for privacy for him and his family at the time.
He did not comment yesterday on his return to work.
