The pop star captured up close and personal with Finland’s party-loving Prime Minister has spoken out after rumours the pair were having an affair.
Olavi Uusivirta, a 39-year-old actor and singer, claims “hand on heart” that he and Sanna Marin are not romantically involved with each other, after video emerged of the pair dancing intimately.
“There has been speculation in the public about the quality of the relationship between me and Prime Minister Sanna Marin,” Mr Uusivirta posted to Instagram.
“Hand on heart I can just say it like it is: we are friends and nothing inappropriate has happened.”
Footage released on Friday shows Mr Uusivirta and Ms Sanna dancing together at 4am in a Helsinki nightclub, which is believed to be located close to the country’s parliament.
Ms Marin, who is married and has a four-year-old daughter, appears to have her arms draped around the singer.
Soon after, Mr Uusivirta, who went through a divorce with his wife last year, is seen pressing his face against Ms Marin’s neck, in what some Finnish media claim was a kiss.
Meanwhile other witnesses reported to the country’s media that Ms Marin was seen dancing with two other men, before sitting on the laps of an additional two during her night out.
But despite the allegations, Mr Uusivirta has put any theories of an affair to rest, as Ms Marin attempts to rebuild her image following a series of leaked videos of her partying.
“I won‘t comment on the matter anymore publicly,” he said.
Mr Uusivirta’s comments were mostly supported by his followers, with some replying to his post with heart and praise emojis.
“Totally pointless chasing the whole Sanna Marin thing! Everyone should have the right to switch off sometimes,” one woman commented.
“I’d dance with you and Sanna,” said another.
But not all were forgiving, commenting that the video revealed more than what Mr Uusivirta was sharing.
“There is no speculation when there is a video that clearly shows what you are doing,” one commenter said.
“The pics say otherwise,” said another.

Ms Marin, who is one of the youngest Prime Ministers in the world, has come under fire before for partying too much at festivals and clubs.
Last year, she was forced to apologise after she was seen clubbing in the early hours of the morning despite coming into contact with her Foreign Minister who tested positive to Covid-19.
While she was initially told she did not need to isolate as she was fully vaccinated, she missed a second text which was sent to her work phone rather than her personal mobile, instructing her to remain at home.
Now following the recently leaked videos of her drinking and partying with some celebrity friends, Ms Marin has taken a drug test to stamp out suspicion that drugs were present at the time.
“I did nothing illegal”, she said in an interview on Friday.
“Even in my teenage years I have not used any kind of drugs.”
Results for the test are expected to return within the coming days.
Ms Marin has lashed out at those who shared the videos, which were leaked to Instagram Stories. While she knew the videos were being recorded, the Prime Minister was under the impression that they wouldn’t be shared.
Despite the leak, the Prime Minister has defended her actions, saying she should be allowed to let her hair down like everyone else.
But her rebuttal hasn’t been well-received by her critics who say her job is too important to be spending time partying, especially when Finland is at odds with neighbouring Russia over its bid to join NATO.
Reporters have also tested the Prime Minister’s ability to make a snap decision while partying, asking what she would do if something came up while she was at the club.
“I don’t remember a single time that there was a sudden situation in the middle of the night to go to the State Council Palace,” she shot back. “I think my ability to function was really good. There were no known meetings on the days I was partying.
“I trust that people understand that leisure time and work time can be separated.”
While Ms Marin’s behaviour has attracted its fair share of criticism, she’s also received global recognition and support.
“I prefer a prime minister who dances and sings to politicians who steal and lie. Full support for Sanna Marin, Prime Minister of Finland,” one supporter posted to Twitter.
“Boris Johnson has serial affairs and an unknown number of love-children and that’s absolutely fine, Boris will be Boris. But Sanna Marin dances with men in a nightclub and it’s front page news and grounds to resign? Misogyny and hypocrisy alive and well,” tweeted another.
“Political leaders do party. They also get drunk sometimes, snore, fall down, laugh, stain their clothes, dance, puke. They are human beings. Get over it,” a third said.
Meanwhile, other advocates, particularly women, are posting their own videos of them dancing and partying to show their support for the Prime Minister.
