The best workplaces for Australians to further their careers and develop new skills have been revealed. See the industries and companies that have topped this year’s list.

Five easy ways to appear more confident and ace your next job interview

EXCLUSIVE: Tech companies are offering the most career growth for workers, as more Aussies look for upskilling opportunities in artificial intelligence, new data shows.

LinkedIn released its Top Companies list on Tuesday, a data-backed ranking of the 25 best workplaces for Australians to further their careers, and tech giants dominated.

ServiceNow claimed the top spot in the list, now in its ninth year, while Australian software company Atlassian came second, followed by Commonwealth Bank, Amazon and Oracle.

Tech companies took out four of the top five positions, compared to 2024 where banking and financial companies dominated.

“Last year’s list was dominated by finance. Tech has really come out strong here,” LinkedIn Career Expert Cayla Dengate said.

“It makes a lot of sense to me as one of the biggest booming areas is AI and tech is squarely at that leading edge.”

The list helps Aussies pinpoint which companies attract and retain top talent, while also offering the best upskilling opportunities, Ms Dengate added.

Three in five Aussies planning to look for a job in 2025, and AI upskilling opportunities will be top-of-mind for many, Ms Dengate said.

“People are asking themselves should I invest in AI literacy or something specific to my role. I would suggest start looking for the jobs that are out there and what skills are in the job descriptions and ask yourself ‘Do I have these – do I need to do some online learning to fill in any gaps?’,” she said.

A total of 82 per cent of employers globally said AI was driving them to focus more on reskilling, according to leading recruitment agency Randstad.

More figures from the recruiter showed 66 per cent of Aussie workers said they felt ready to use the latest technology (such as AI) in their role, while 34 per cent said they did not.

Randstad director of professional talent solutions, Jo Jakobs, said a “real breadth” of industries were already adopting AI such as government departments, the banking and financial sector — which use it to help in cases of money laundering — life sciences and manufacturing.

But she said the real AI boom was happening in tech companies.

“This is their bread and butter. This is where we are seeing an emergence,” Ms Jakobs said.

“Companies that lean into AI and are the early adopters in finding ways to upskill their people in terms of how to leverage it could really be putting themselves at quite an advantage compared to companies that haven’t.

“Any company would be silly not to want someone who maybe promotes that they are AI literate.”

LinkedIn’s Top Companies list is generated from LinkedIn data across eight criteria including promotions and skills development.

ServiceNow HR director Peyton Caffey said the firm – which offers a cloud-based business management platform – was focused on attracting and retaining high performers, by building a sense of community, offering benefits such as family leave, health and wellbeing programs, as well as flexible and remote working options.

“We see ourselves as ‘customer zero’ and we use all our own tools and technology to help employees work efficiently, wherever they are,” Mr Caffey said.

Atlassian’s Chief People Officer Avani Prabhakar said going from seventh place to second this year was testament to the company’s focus on “creating an environment where our people can thrive”.

Last year, Commonwealth Bank was ranked first, followed by NAB, Telstra, Australian Super and Rest.

But NAB, the ANZ, Australian Super and Rest all dropped out of the top 25 this year.
