A young Australian crypto-billionaire is offering up to $100,000 in sign-on bonuses for talented local tech workers.

EasyGo Solutions, the joint brainchild of Australia’s youngest billionaire and Crypto kingpin Ed Craven, announced the massive sign-on bonus and salaries “20 per cent more than industry standard” to The Australian this week.

The 28-year-old shot to riches in 2017 in the tech space. His software company is now reportedly seeking to poach high-demand Australian workers.

EasyGo is the parent company of fast-growing online brands, including the live-streaming platform Kick and the online casino and sports betting site Stake.

EasyGo Solutions chief technology officer Dave Lemphers told The Australian on Tuesday that the move comes amid “hyper-scale growth.”

And some of the world’s most lauded tech companies are listed in their poaching crosshair.

“Hyperscale growth is significant because it introduces unique and complex engineering challenges that we must overcome to maintain and enhance our customer experience,” Mr Lemphers told The Australian.

“There are a handful of companies in Australia with experience solving complex engineering challenges at scale, including Atlassian, Canva, Microsoft, Amazon, Google, and Xero. Software engineers from these companies have hands-on experience with scaling complex systems.

“Their expertise is invaluable in helping us navigate similar challenges.”

According to Mr Lemphers, bonuses range between $50,000 and $100,000, depending on what’s gathered during the interview process. Experienced engineers and managers are wanted in particular.

“We recognise and value the unique skills and experiences these engineers bring,” Mr Lemphers said.

“We offer compensation packages that are commensurate with their expertise and experience, including attractive sign-on bonuses.”

The company will cover interstate relocation expenses.

As of February, the Melbourne-based company has more than 350 people on its payroll, while Stake has become one of the world’s biggest crypto casinos, said to take in an average of $US400m ($605m) each day.

EasyGo’s “We’re hiring” page currently hosts 24 vacancies.

The nation appears to be becoming a lucrative environment for tech workers, with the Tech Council of Australia revealing that it is on track to meet the Federal Government’s goal of 1.2 million tech jobs by 2030.

The Australian Computer Society (ACS) released an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Skills Demand Report 2023, which found a strong demand for ICT skills across all industries in Australia.

According to a report, there is a shortage of over 30,000 workers in Australia.

Northbridge Recruitment’s analysis indicates that due to the increasing demand for IT jobs, IT workers in Australia can expect job security and strong wage growth in 2024.

SEEK reports that the average salary for an IT worker in Australia is currently $104,650 per year and is expected to increase to $112,100 per year by 2024.
