Full-time student looks for work on streets

AN ENTERPRISING Aussie student has gone to extraordinary lengths to stand out against the crowd to find himself a casual job.

Sean Anderson stood on the corner of a busy intersection on Monday afternoon in Edens Landing, a residential suburb southwest of Brisbane, Queensland, with a sign that reads: "EMPLOY ME!"

On the other side it reads, "FULL TIME STUDENT NEEDS A JOB! CALL SEAN".

The 24-year-old has high hopes for his future; he wants to turn his Certificate IV in Justice Studies into an entry into the Australian Police Force.

Sean Anderson says he needs to find a job to pay the bills.

But before he applies for the force, he needs to pay the rent.

"I'm not working at all, I've got a bit of money that I've saved but I'm running out and I need to pay for rent and food," he told news.com.au.

"I don't think it's something many people have tried before, I was trying to get myself out there and do something a bit different," he explained.

"I feel like getting a job isn't the same as what is used to be."

The TAFE student, who lives with his mother and brother, says he has received calls since the brave move, including offers from recruitment companies, removalists and tradies.

"I've called a number of them back, but being a full-time student it is difficult to have flexibility," he said.

Instead he says he's looking for work where he can use his conversational skills with people, including hospitality and customer service.

Picky much? We'll let it slide. Sean is available during afternoons, weekends as well as Fridays.

Sean Anderson hopes to one day join the Police Force.
