Popular kids' play centre Jummps suddenly shuts down leaving parties in chaos
A beloved Gold Coast trampoline park has closed its doors due to “financial challenges”, leaving devastated families with cancelled birthday parties and uncertain deposits.
A popular kids play centre has been suddenly shut down due to “financial challenges”, leaving customers with pre-booked parties without a venue and a question mark over their deposits.
Jummps, a trampoline park in the Gold Coast suburb of Parkwood, had operated since 2018 and has hosted thousands of kids parties, tumbling classes, disability services and school functions.
It was located at Parkwood Village, home of the Gold Coast Titans headquarters.
The business sent text messages to customers on Monday night breaking the news it would be going into voluntary liquidation and its phone line has been unavailable since.
“To our wonderful Jummps families, this message comes with heavy hearts,” the message said.
“After seeking professional advice, we’ve had to start the formal process of liquidation due to financial challenges.
“From here the liquidator will manage all legal and financial responsibilities.
“We can’t offer further details or make promises outside that formal process.
“We are deeply grateful for every child and family who have been a part of this journey.
“You all made Jummps feel like one big family that we’re really going to miss.
“We wish everyone the very best, you’ve all been so amazing.”
The company’s sole director and shareholder is Sandra Yeowart, 67, of Helensvale. It was previously owned by Melissa Bauman, who left in 2023.
Credit records do not reveal any outstanding tax payments or court actions against the company.
It was still registered – without liquidators in place – as of Tuesday morning.
It was advertising Christmas holiday programs as recently as last Friday. The number of staff employed at the centre is unknown.
Long-time customers voiced their dismay at the sudden closure on social media, with many saying they had future booking but had not heard from the company.
One parent said they’d “fully paid” for their son’s party this weekend, while another was also worried their kid’s party plans would be in disarray.
“I have a party booked there for a few weeks time and haven’t received anything yet,” said one mum.
“They took my money only last week for a party and would have known this,” said another.
“If I didn’t get tagged in this post I wouldn’t have known and would have turned up with party friends – just a nightmare.”
“My son is devastated, he loves Jummps and just turned seven, and was excited to go in the over-7’s area,” said a third mum.
“I hope someone buys it and keeps it running.”
Jummps has been contacted for comment.
