What if your next flat white or grocery order came with a free plane ticket?
In a bold move that blends food with frequent flyer perks, DoorDash and Virgin Australia have teamed up to turn everyday deliveries into travel opportunities.
From today, Aussies can earn Velocity Frequent Flyer Points every time they place a DoorDash order at restaurants, cafes, grocery stores or pharmacies.
Even ordering a morning coffee online could bring would-be holidaymakers a step closer to a getaway.
Every $1 spent equals one Velocity Point, with a bonus 2000 points also on offer.
That’s nearly half the points needed for a one-way seat between Sydney and Melbourne, which starts from just 5900 points.
DoorDash’s director of partnerships and sales Katy Rogers said the goal was to make everyday spending more meaningful.
“This transforms everyday deliveries into exciting opportunities giving back to customers in a way that brings them closer to unforgettable experiences,” she said.
Nick Rohrlach, CEO of Velocity Frequent Flyer, said the deal meant Aussies could attain their holiday dreams sooner.
“Whether it’s flights, upgrades or shopping at Myer — Velocity is all about rewarding Aussies faster,” he said.
To get on board for 2000 bonus points, customers need to link their Velocity account to the DoorDash app and place an eligible order by August 12.
