Discount retailer Silly Solly’s will add three new stores to its Queensland operations and is ramping up its new frozen food offering in response to demand in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The retailer currently has 20 stores in Queensland offering nothing over $5 and aims to have 34 stores down the eastern seaboard by the end of the year.
It will open stores at 17 Queen Elizabeth Drive, North Rockhampton on September 2, 657-659 Deception Day Rd, Deception Bay, in early October and 170 Kremzow Rd, Brendale, in November.
They aim to have a 100 stores across Australia in the next few years.
Spokesman Solly Stanton said the company recently launched its frozen food section and was waiting for more than 200 freezers to arrive from overseas.
“We always listen to our customers who told us they wanted a new range of products during Covid when there is an every day focus on essential items,” he said.
“We are not letting the Covid pandemic get in the way. Thousands and thousands of Australians shop in our shops each week during these uncertain times and they tell us what they want. We’ve been humbled by the response.”
Once a dominant player in the discount variety arena, Silly Solly’s sold out to the Warehouse Group in 2000. However, the brand was reborn in late 2017 at Rockhampton.
