A SPECIALIST medical centre designed to ease the squeeze on the Wesley Hospital has secured its first precommitment.

Wesley Medical Imaging has secured a 10-year lease on 320sq m on the first floor of the building to be built at 87 Lang Parade, Auchenflower, in a deal struck by Retailspace Property’s Andrew Deane.

“They are radiologists for the Wesley Hospital and need to expand but there was no space in the hospital.” Mr Deane said.

Hutchinson Builders will start construction of the 1313sq m four-level Wesley Specialists Centre by the end of the month with the complex set to open mid next year.

The building, which is across the road from the hospital, will have up to seven suites, a coffee shop and undercover parking. Suites will rent for between $750sq m and $800sq m.

Mr Deane said demand for specialist suites at the Wesley Hospital far exceeded supply.

“We’ve had a lot of expressions of interest for the suites and it really is a demand and supply issue,” he said.

“There are doctors who can get time in Wesley Hospital to perform operations but have no rooms in there to see their patients before and after the operations.

“This is a very rare site and this building will give medical specialists the opportunity to have suites very close to the hospital.”
