Former Property Council boss Jen Williams will head up The Committee for Brisbane

Former Property Council boss Jen Williams has a new job leading an organisation aiming to make Brisbane the world's most liveable city.

Jen Williams has secured a new job as CEO of The Committee for Brisbane.

She officially left her role as executive director of the Property Council Queensland at the end of February and has been enjoying some much needed R & R.

Williams says she’s “super excited” and will start on June 3 taking over from Barton Green who resigned in January to pursue new business opportunities

For the record The Committee for Brisbane was – until being rebranded four years ago – the Brisbane Development Association which has been around since 1958.

Based in the Blue Tower in the CBD The Committee for Brisbane is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that is committed to helping shape greater Brisbane as the world’s most liveable place. Its membership is drawn from diverse areas of corporate and business sectors, the creative industries, the higher education sector and community.

For Williams the role is a good step away from the Property Council.

“It’s really about Brisbane being a liveable place. Not just about the built form but also other important areas like the arts community,” she says.

“What better time to be part of an organisation like this. It’s the most exciting point in Brisbane’s recent history.”

Global ambitions

Popular fresh smoothie, juice, acai, salads, and soup retailer So Juicy has committed to another five years as a tenant at the refurbished Post Office Square in the CBD with its owners aiming to launch the brand globally,

The Post Office Square outlet of So Juicy opened in July 2021 and is owned Piscean Retail and director Sangeeta Jain says the store will be the first of an international chain of kiosks, stores and restaurants,

“Post Office Square is the heart of Brisbane’s CBD and as such is an ideal place to launch our

business which we expect to be popular and successful enough to become a global brand,” she says.

“We picked this spot for our first store because of the high level of foot traffic it receives due to its great location.”

Jain says customer faves are hard to nominate as all their food and drinks are popular, but if

she had to, she’d pick the Fresh Heat Beat in their juices range, the Mango Maniac from

the smoothie varieties and the Original Acai bowls as particular favourites.

Wave of sales

Luxury boat builder Maritimo’s push into Asia has gone up a notch with the first vessel – the M55 – arriving at its exclusive dealer, Eins A Resort in Osaka in Japan.

And we hear there are plenty more to come with Maritimo attracting strong interest, particularly in the 55 to 75-foot segment.

Maritimo shipping and international service and warranty manager Ross `Rossco’ Willaton flew to Osaka to work with the Eins A Resort team and technicians and describes it as “an enlightening experience”!

“They’re a very professional and well-established operation, with a massive showroom and warehouse in Osaka. They are also official Volvo Penta representatives which fits perfectly with Maritimo,” he says.

“Their technicians know their way around boats and were immediately at ease aboard the M55. We’re looking forward to delivering a fleet of Maritimo motor yachts into this region.”
