A revolutionary coworking space with onsite childcare has announced its expansion to Queensland next month.

BubbaDesk will open its Brisbane location on October 8 to offer private workspaces, play and learning facilities and dedicated childcare services.

Parents will also have access to meeting rooms, high-speed internet and kitchen facilities to help them stay productive when their kids are in the hands of experienced nannies.

The flexible workspace will cater to the needs of working parents and provide an alternative to the traditional daycare model.

It will be located at 24 Chermside Street, with all day street parking available.

Sydney mother Lauren Perrett put the edge-cutting concept into practice two years ago and chose Queensland to be its first interstate stop.

“We are beyond excited to be bringing BubbaDesk to Brisbane and particularly to Newstead, which is known for its vibrant community and thriving business scene,” she said.

“Our interstate expansion is based solely on demand from our following, and the Queensland market has told us there is a need, so we are excited to deliver this service to parents.

“Our mission is to bring work life balance to as many parents returning to work as possible, so we want to expand where their demand is.

“We are planning to launch on the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast early next year as well.”

The mother of two founded Australia’s first business that combined work and childcare in Erina, around 90km north of Sydney, prompted by her struggles in returning to work after giving birth to her first child.

“I suffered from quite severe post-natal anxiety, and the thought of being away from him just triggered that even more,” Ms Perrett said.

“So we explored the idea of having a nanny, but nannies are obviously quite expensive by the time you have them all day every day through a working week.

“Then I jokingly said to my mothers’ group, ‘let’s all just pitch in for a working space and just have nannies there as well’, and they can look after the children while we work.”

The Brisbane location is currently accepting bookings with limited spaces available.

Subscription starts from $100 per day, excluding GST, with tax deductions eligible.

Memberships have been a third full before its opening.

The other three BubbaDesk locations are in St Leonards, Caringbah and Wollongong of New South Wales, with Sydney’s Summer Hill coming up next month.

Ms Perrett said the company will look up the east coast and Western Australia afterwards to push the idea Australia-wide.
