DOORS CLOSED
A VENUE that once housed two of the Gold Coast’s better known brothels will be knocked down after being sold to a surfboard products company.
The property at 12 Greg Chappell Drive, Burleigh Heads, previously traded as Secret Liaisons and The Black Orchid.
It was sold vacant possession to Southcoast Foam and Fibreglass for $950,000 through Adam Grbcic and Tony Grbcic of Ray White Broadbeach.
The property has been vacant since Secret Liaisons, which had leased the building in the Burleigh Gardens Industrial Estate, ceased trading late last year.
“The property has been operating as a brothel for more than 15 years and has changed hands twice in recent years,” Tony Grbcic said.
“Despite being fully fitted with all fixtures and chattels, including pink fluffy dressing gowns and an array of moisturisers, we found 90 per cent of the inquiry was for alternative uses.
“Most of those interested were business owners within the local area who were looking to expand and could see the redevelopment potential.
“The building will now be knocked to the ground, along with its history as a brothel.”
NEW GIG
WHILE CI Australia, the former Sydney-based Chesterton International, is setting up shop in Brisbane and has taken a swag of local Chesties staff in the process, one they didn’t get was Jeff Dolan.
The experienced commercial property hand has bobbed up as director of sales at Tewksbury Commercial Real Estate.
Jeff was at Chesties for almost four years and before that CapLand and Colliers International.
GOOD CAUSE
AFTER the success of last year’s inaugural Gala, the Property Industry Foundation will host its second annual Gala Dinner at Cloudland on Friday.
Queensland PIF Board chairman Brian McGuckin said the Foundation hoped to beat last
year’s total, with the 2017 goal to raise more than $50,000.
All funds raised will contribute to the PIF House program, which aims to take young
homeless people off the streets and into stable accommodation, with the ultimate aim of
providing them with jobs in the industry.
