A HISTORIC inner city hotel that was owned by the same family for 95 years is set for a new future.

Colin Macleod’s Oz Pub Group has bought the freehold and going concern of The Boundary Hotel on the corner of Boundary Rd and Jane St, West End.

The pub has been in operation on the same site since 1864.

The deal was struck JLL Hotels & Hospitality’s Tom Gleeson who sold the hotel through an expressions of interest campaign.

Mr Gleeson declined to comment on the price but industry sources say Oz Pub Group would have paid between $11 million and $12 million.

The large format hotel is on a 1924sq m site and includes public bar, gaming room, open plan bistro and bar, extensive beer garden, multiple break away function spaces, retail bottle shop.

“With ownership dating back to 1922 the campaign naturally generated significant interest from a variety of buyer profiles, all with an appreciation of the scarcity of this asset type,” Mr Gleeson said.

Oz Pub Group currently owns and operates four hotels including The Shafston and Aspley Hotel.

Mr Gleeson, who recently transacted the Plough Inn at South Bank, said the new owner was a highly regarded and established Queensland based hotelier and has plans to refurbish and enhance the hotel.

“The Boundary Hotel represented an outstanding opportunity for a quality operator to deliver a truly special offering in West End, an area which holds significant appeal,” he said.
