Cheese tea is one of the offerings available at a first-of-its-kind store set to open in Brisbane this month.

A NEW Asian-style tea and bakery will give Queenslanders a taste of the range of exotic flavours out of China including cheese tea.

Rachel and Will Bi will open Meet Sweet Tea and Bakery this month at Sunnybank Hills’ Pinelands Plaza, which they say is the first-of-its-kind store in Brisbane.

Meet Sweet Tea and Bakery will combine fruit tea with brightly-coloured, healthy and uniquely-flavoured Euro-soft bakery treats made on-site daily.

Ms Bi said the concept re-imagines Chinese tea through a revitalised tea mix very different from the familiar milk bubble tea and would include cheese cap tea, seasonal fresh fruit tea and fresh fruit tea with yoghurt or probiotics.

The signature baking style makes the sweet and savoury baked goods extra soft.

“The Euro-soft bread is different from most bakeries on the market, not only in appearance, but also in fermentation, raw materials and baking,” Ms Bi said.

“With the use of natural yeast, grains, dried fruits and fresh fruits, Euro-soft bread is low in sugar and oil, and becomes soft, moist and retains the healthy aspect of typical European breads.

“The new-generation Chinese-style tea together with the handmade Euro-soft bread is the most popular eatery combination and fashion recently in Asia and in eastern Australian locations like Sydney and Melbourne.”

The Bis know the Brisbane market well, with Ms Bi having studied architecture at the University of Queensland before returning to China while her husband worked as an accountant for KPMG in China.

In China they opened and ran two successful tea and bakery stores before relocating back to Brisbane this year with their two children,

Their shop in Pinelands Plaza is in light-filled, 90sq m corner space next to Coles.

“Meet Sweet Tea and Bakery will be the first cafe of its kind in Queensland and we’re really excited to bring this concept to both Asian and non-Asian consumers at Pinelands Plaza in mid-September,” Ms Bi said.
