VETERAN property developer Kevin Seymour has put his foot on a large chunk of vacant land for an industrial subdivision in the Brisbane-Gold Coast growth corridor.

Seymour Group has paid more than $20 million for the 64.2ha site along Stapylton-Jacobs Well Rd at Yatala.

Mr Seymour said he planned to develop the sizeable holding into an industrial estate to be called M38 Industrial Park.

He said it was aptly named as it was right on the doorstep of exit 38 along the M1, giving future occupiers good access to the Gold Coast and Brisbane.

“The advantage of this site is it is right in the centre of the action in Yatala,” Mr Seymour said.

“It will also have at least two major entrances off Stapylton-Jacobs Well Rd and Christensen Rd.”

Lots in the planned subdivision will range from 2000sq m to 40,000sq m with the smaller sites expected to sell for around $350/sq m.

Mr Seymour said good industrial land was getting harder to find in southeast Queensland and securing parcels greater than 20ha in size was “almost impossible”.

“This is likely the last major subdivision in Yatala as the area is running out of zoned land,” he said.

Initial works have begun on the Yatala site with clearing and bulk earthworks already under way.

“We only settled a little over a month ago and we’re right into it and working up the subdivision plan now,” Mr Seymour said. “We’re excited to be turning soil on this prime industrial development. It will be a real boon for the local economy and will become one of the best estates in Australia.”
