Gunabul Homestead could fetch $3.5 million

A historic South East Queensland homestead with a golf course that has been owned by the same family for almost 40 years is on the market with expectations it could fetch up to $3.5 million.

A historic South East Queensland homestead, with cabins and a golf course, is on the market for the first time in almost 40 years.

The Snelling family are selling Gunabul Homestead in Gympie and sources say it could fetch between $2.5m and $3.5m.

The homestead was built in 1887 and was a private residence for the Power family before being transformed into a restaurant and events space.

The property occupies a 15ha site in the Gympie CBD, with frontage to the Mary River.

The Snelling family purchased the property 38 years ago, and built what is now the Gunabul par 3, 18-hole golf course. They also built three cabins, which are regularly booked out.

The property is being sold on a walk in, walk out basis, including all plant and equipment for the course, along with a turnkey restaurant and events business.

CBRE’s Louisa Blennerhassett, who is selling the property, said the homestead was one of Gympie’s most popular events venues.

“It has hosted hundreds of weddings, family celebrations, graduations and corporate events over the years,” she said.

“The golf course business has also grown considerably in recent years, attracting players both locally and from further afield.

“The property is poised and ready to be taken over by a new generation, to grow and expand the existing property and businesses.

“Alternatively, the development of the golf course has created a stunning property, which could be returned to its original purpose as a luxury homestead.”
