Construction of the Foundation Place office building in SunCentral’s Maroochydore City Centre to generate jobs.

A city changing masterplan on the Sunshine Coast has had its first office building approved with construction to start later this year.

CONSTRUCTION on the first building approved for SunCentral’s new Maroochydore City Centre on the Sunshine Coast will start later this year.

The eight-level Foundation Place, a $30 million energy efficient office complex, is being delivered by experienced locally-based developers Evans Long.

Evans Long director Dirk Long, said they have signed a “commitment agreement” to deliver a project that will obtain a Nabers 5-star energy rating on completion.

“Foundation Place will be the first private commercial building on the Sunshine Coast to do so,” he said.

The project will provixde 35 full time jobs during construction with a maximum of 70 people at peak times and about 200 different people through the gate during construction.

Mr Long said they have had strong interest from potential tenants.

“We’re confident our location and cutting-edge design will attract a range of businesses that would benefit from basing their operations in the heart of what will be a vibrant city centre,” he said.

The Cottee Parker-designed building will comprise 5006sq m of space over ground floor retail, five levels of commercial space and parking for 77 cars across two podium levels.

SunCentral chief executive John Knaggs said Foundation Place ideally matched the vision to create a cleaner, greener, dynamic city centre.

“The developers have really married the unique local environment with innovative design to deliver what will be a groundbreaking commercial space for our new City Centre,” he said.
