FORGET about the traffic congestion on the M1, what about the ever-growing number of commuters queuing for an on-the-go caffeine fix?

With an increasing flow of Queensland drivers taking a detour for a coffee refuel, Zarraffa’s Coffee has opted to open it’s first Brisbane dual lane drive-though.

The new commuter-friendly outlet is strategically positioned along Hendra’s East West Arterial Rd, a busy thoroughfare in the city’s north.

It will employ more than 20 locals, backed by an experienced management team.

According to a recently published report by market research firm IBISWorld, revenue for Australia’s cafes and coffee shops industry is set to hit almost $10 billion by the end of 2019.

It says the nation’s vibrant coffee culture had led to positive revenue performance — growing at an annualised 2.5 per cent — over the past five years.

However, the growing number of specialty cafes and coffee shops had contributed to high industry competition and pushed profitability down.

Zarraffa’s Coffee chief executive officer, Marnie Sheldon, said the new dual lane drive-through outlet at Hendra would provide customers with a shorter wait time as well as easy access.

Ms Sheldon said that while the location was an important component when opening a new drive-through, with the increased competition in the market it was equally important that the store was managed by highly trained and experienced professionals.

The Hendra outlet is being run by a franchisee group led by Hemal Keniya, who has spent 13 years operating a number of stores — including two drive-throughs — for the specialty coffee retailer on the Gold Coast.

“Hendra is located in the vicinity of major roads servicing over 100,000 cars each day, and it will be their strong franchise experience that will ensure the new dual lane drive-through experience is a success,” Ms Sheldon said.

Mr Keniya said he was thrilled to expand the franchisee group’s footprint and “bring great coffee to such a busy part of north Brisbane”.

“Our experience has taught us about the importance of providing excellent customer service and product, especially in the faster pace drive through environment,” he said.

To celebrate the opening of the new drive-through, Zarraffa’s Hendra is offering a variety of specials, including complimentary upsizes, coffee shots, flavours and even gift bags.
