BRISBANE Catholic Education has received the green light from the city council planning committee for a new head office at the $850 million Yeerongpilly Green development.
It has been a long process for BCE which in December 2015 told Prime Site that the Consolidated Properties, CVS Lane Partners and LJCB Investment Group joint venture
masterplanned community in Brisbane’s southside was its preferred option.
The organisation, which administers 137 Catholic schools in southeast Queensland, started the process through Savills almost three years ago to consolidate operations from its Dutton Park and West End offices into one new location.
City planning chairman Cr Julian Simmonds said the plans include more than 6500sq m of A-grade office space, a roof top communal recreation space, 201 car parks, 50 bicycle parks and access to public transport.
“The project will deliver office space over the ground level and levels 1 to 3, with an atrium in the centre of the building providing natural light to each level,” he said.
“The ground floor will also contain a staff cafe, while level four will feature a roof top terrace area for use by staff.”
Cr Simmonds said once complete, Yeerongpilly Green would include shops, a supermarket, restaurants and hotel.
MASTER PLAN MOVES FORWARD
SOUTHEAST Queensland’s John Gaskell Planning Consultants and Deicke Richards have been appointed to help prepare The Spit Master Plan on the Gold Coast.
State Development, Manufacturing and Planning minister Cameron Dick said the consortium, headed up by the two local firms, was appointed from a field of 13 responses.
“This significant appointment means work can now begin on the next stage of this important process, in collaboration with Gold Coast City Council and Gold Coast Waterways Authority,” he said.
More than 550 people have attended pop-up information sessions at Gold Coast shopping centres, libraries and public parks since February 17 to give their views about The Spit.
More than 200 online surveys also have been received through the project website.

This additional campus includes a new library, expanded study areas, classrooms, creative collaborative spaces and additional breakout areas. Most anticipated however, is the addition of 17 fully equipped practice and ensemble rehearsal rooms spanning more than two floors.
over two floors.
“This new purpose built campus will allow the performance and songwriting students to immerse themselves in music making” says JMC’s Head of Music, Sean Foran.
Official proceedings will take place between 4:30pm to 5:45pm on Thursday and this will be followed by a cocktail reception and rooftop music performance.
CLIMBING FOR A CAUSE
IT’S an event not for everyone but on Sunday more than 800 people climbed 1331 steps up 77 gruelling flights of stairs to the SkyPoint Observation Deck yesterday for the SkyPoint Sea to Sky Q1 Stair Challenge.
The challenge raised more than $25,000 for Rosies Friends on the Street.
The men’s elite individual category winner was Jason Williams from Victoria with a time of 8 minutes 5 seconds, and the women’s elite individual category winner was Monica Medjumurac from Victoria with a time of 9 minutes 49 seconds.
Other notable mentions were local firemen who climbed in their full gear, a participant, Chris Lawler who did the challenge eight times in a row and the largest team, which went to major sponsors Choice Homes with 26 team members.
