A NEW $200 million over 50s lifestyle community on the Sunshine Coast will feature a range of green initiatives including offering residents a Tesla as its shared car.
Halcyon’s newest community, B by Halcyon in Buderim, has sold out its first release of homes and presales have prompted the developer to bring forward the second release.

Halcyon’s joint managing director Bevan Geissmann said it was the developer’s fourth community on the Sunshine Coast and they aim to create “something very special” in terms of facilities and eco-friendly initiatives.
Homeowners at B by Halcyon will be the first community in Australia to have the electric Tesla as its shared car. The Model 3 Tesla with panoramic roof will sit at the community’s charging station for use by the homeowners.
Dr Geissmann said the Tesla car was one of many initiatives which cements Halcyon’s commitment to lowering the carbon footprint.
“We are conscious of creating communities which are eco-friendly and echo the concerns of many people in Australia,” he said.
“Together with partners such as Tesla, our homes are designed to meet an 8-star energy rating with environmentally sensitive materials including Hebel and steel, triple insulation as well as solar panels and solar hot water as standard.”
B by Halcyon’s main recreation centre will also be powered by Tesla batteries, ensuring a more cost-effective and efficient use of energy.
Project director Chris Carley said B by Halcyon has also received six-leaf EnviroDevelopment certification from the Urban Development Industry Australia.
“This means the community has minimal impact on the environment, encourages safe, healthy and active lifestyles, and delivers lower household energy use and running costs,” he said.
“Not only is it responsible to employ cutting-edge technology to ensure the community is environmentally efficient, it also saves homeowners a lot of money.”
The 24ha site at 56-62 Whites Rd, Buderim, will feature 6ha of lakes and private open space less than 10 minutes from Sunshine Plaza. The first homes expected to be delivered in September 2020.
B by Halcyon will also feature 5-star health and wellness facilities including a 25m covered and heated magnesium salt pool with spa, outdoor resort pool, gymnasium and circuit room, yoga lawn, massage and therapy treatment rooms and beauty salon.
Also planned for the community is a Creative Arts Precinct which includes an art room, pottery workshop, music studio and work shed.
