POS Forge: Adelaide cafe owner behind new payments system

A frustrated cafe owner has turned the tables on expensive payment systems by creating his own product that’s already attracting users across three countries.

An Adelaide cafe owner has launched a new point-of-sale payments system targeted at cafes, restaurants and hospitality operators, promising an all-in-one solution at the fraction of the cost of competing products.

POS Forge is the brainchild of Regan Mandzuk, owner of The Bubbly Tea & Coffee Co. at Christies Beach, who says he spent years battling the “limitations and hidden costs” of existing POS systems before deciding to develop his own product.

Working with New Zealand software company DataForge, and backed with more than $250,000 in pre-seed investment, POS Forge was built over 12 months of development and testing before its soft launch in October.

Mr Mandzuk said the platform worked on any Apple, Android or desktop browser, and unlike many competing providers, there were no lock-in contracts or extra charges for features like kitchen displays, kiosks and online ordering.

“We want business owners to keep their money in their pockets – not hand it over for the

basic tools they need to serve customers,” he said.

“At The Bubbly Tea & Coffee Co. we’ve achieved a significant reduction in POS costs and an increase in revenue after implementing kiosks and online ordering.

“POS Forge has been developed for business owners seeking control, simplicity and fair pricing – without the burden of expensive subscriptions or locked eco-systems.”

Mr Mandzuk said POS Forge already had more than 40 business users across three countries, as well as two reseller partners who would help expand the product into new markets.
