Greenback bounces on Trump news

THE US dollar has following appointment of a special counsel to head a key federal investigation into the US election.

THE Australian dollar has slipped back against the US dollar, which rebounded along with the major US share markets following appointment of a special counsel to head a key federal investigation in the US.

At 0635 AEST on Friday, the local unit was worth 74.19 US cents, down from 74.47 US cents on Thursday.

The Aussie dollar was also lower against the yen and the euro.

* 74.19 US cents, from 74.47 on Thursday

* 82.72 Japanese yen, from 82.90 yen

* 66.80 euro cents, from 66.91 euro cents
