Dollar gains against greenback

THE Australian dollar is trading higher against its US counterpart, which has come under some pressure due to geopolitical tensions over North Korea.
At 0636 AEST on Tuesday, the Australian dollar was at 75.90 US cents, up from 75.81 cents on Thursday.
FXStreet analyst Matias Salord said upbeat Chinese GDP data had boosted the Aussie dollar, as well as the weak US dollar.
He expects the focus to be on the minutes of the latest meeting of the Reserve Bank of Australia, which are due to be released later on Tuesday. The local currency is steady against the Japanese yen but slightly stronger against the euro.
