THE Australian dollar has fallen below 91 US cents for the first time in six months, despite the release of very strong local jobs figures.
At 0630 AEST on Friday, the local currency was trading at 90.96 US cents, down from 91.61 cents on Thursday.
On Thursday, data showed that the number of people with jobs rose a 121,000 in August and the unemployment rate fell to 6.1 per cent from 6.4 per cent the month before.
However, most of the gains were in part time jobs, which caused some to question the absolute strength of the figures.
