THE Australian dollar is higher but continues to trade within a narrow range, despite the release of the federal budget.

At 0630 AEST on Wednesday, the local currency was trading at 93.57 US cents, up from 93.35 cents on Tuesday.

The Australian dollar has traded between 93.33 and 93.85 US cents overnight with the tough budget released on Tuesday night having minimal impact on the currency.
