THE Australian dollar is higher as the greenback loses some of its strength.

At 0630 AEST on Wednesday, the local currency was trading at 92.73 US cents, up from 92.53 cents on Tuesday.

The Australian dollar has been trading lower since last week amid weaker local economic news and data, as well as geopolitical concerns which have created haven demand for the US dollar.

But the greenback has weakened amid a lack of major developments in current conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine.
