THE Australian dollar is a touch higher against its US counterpart. At 0635 AEST on Wednesday, the Australian dollar was worth 75.32 US cents, up from 75.25 US cents on Tuesday.

Westpac’s Imre Speizer said the local currency was being boosted by fading expectations of a US rate rise this month, but weighed on by softer commodity prices.
