Hinterland horse riding, farmstay business put in liquidation by Supreme Court

The Gold Coast hinterland business offering a horse riding and farmstay experience was put into liquidation by an order of the Supreme Court this week.

A POPULAR Gold Coast tourism venture offering a unique farmstay experience, horse riding and four-wheel-drive tours has been put into liquidation.

Gummies Farm and Bush Tours at Biddaddaba near Canungra was put into liquidation by court order this week after an application by WorkCover Queensland.

David Hambleton of Rodgers Reidy was appointed liquidator to the company, which has been operating in the Gold Coast hinterland for more than seven years.

It was placed into liquidation after WorkCover became “frustrated” with non-payment of annual premiums.

Mr Hambleton said fires in the hinterland area earlier this week halted his efforts to contact the company’s director to understand the level of debt and how it was accrued.

Nestled in the picturesque hinterland, Gummies Farm and Bush Tours offered an alternative to the coast’s renowned sun, surf and sand, according to the company’s website.

“Imagine taking in the picturesque views of the beautiful Biddaddaba Valley, in the tranquil surrounds of the Gold Coast’s own outback, while astride a horse matched to your experience,” it said.

The company offered trail riding, clay pigeon shooting, boomerang throwing and whip cracking or an overnight farmstay experience.

It received mostly positive reviews from customers, who hailed the staff as helpful.

Some reviews criticised the quality of equipment at the facility.
