BRISBANE travel agency empire Flight Centre is lifting the lid on its corporate secrets.
After building a business with more than 3000 stores in 14 countries, Flight Centre decided to set-up a division called GoldMind which offers leadership training programs to other companies keen to unlock more growth.
Fellow Queensland success story Domino’s Pizza was the first cab off the rank and put 17 of its employees through a six -month training course centred around “leading self, leading others and leading business”.
Each team had to create a business case for Domino’s, which has already implemented three out of the four, including a social responsibility program where customers can round up the cost of their order and give the difference to a charity. GoldMind has also partnered with the Australian Securities Exchange to create a game teaching staff how to invest in the stock market.
“Because of Flight Centre’s size and scale, we are able to invest in new approaches, test them internally and bring the successful ones to market,” GoldMind general manager, Melissa Armstrong said. “If staff believe their leader is acknowledging them, listening to them and developing them, they will generally be happier and more motivated.”
