Kmart is urgently recalling a popular beverage product due to safety concerns, which has left one person injured.
The ACCC issued a recall notice for the Anko double-walled coffee cups with lids, which are available in Kmart and Target stores and online in four colours – sunset, sage, black and rose gold – between December 18 2024 and April 7, 2025.
When filled with hot liquid, the lid – which has no pressure release valve – could rapidly release and eject.
The ACCC has warned users could be at risk of “serious injury” if the lid were to unexpectedly eject, spilling hot liquid or steam on the user and causing burns.
“An injury has occurred,” the ACCC release said.
A Kmart spokesperson has urged customers to “immediately stop using the product” and return it to the store, where they will be issued a full refund, with or without a receipt.
“We take the quality and safety of our products very seriously,” the spokesperson said.
“Please contact us if you are unable to return the product or have sold or gifted it to another person.”
