WITH mass shootings as regular as morning coffee in the US the New York Daily News called out the powerful pro-gun lobby in a series of provocative front pages.
The paper singled out Republican presidential candidates and the National Rifle Association (NRA) for refusing to allow gun control laws.
The front pages came in the wake of last week’s terrorist attacks in San Bernardino, California, and the shooting at a Planned Parenthood in Colorado.

The gun nuts apparently didn’t like it but unrepentant the paper once again skewered them with a new front page on Monday that mocked their complacency.
The front page featured puppies, fluffy kittens and a polar bear with a cone stuck on its head and the ironic message that, “Everything is AWESOME!”

The San Bernardino shooting was the nation’s 353rd mass shooting for the year. Of the 30,000-plus people killed by firearms each year in the United States, more than 11,000 of those are homicides. That means there are more than 30 gun-related murders daily.
Even so many Americans remain committed to their constitutional right to bear arms and in the wake of the San Bernardino shooting the senate rejected two gun control proposals put forward — one which extended checks on those buying guns online and another to stop those on a terror watch list from purchasing guns at all.
