VETERAN Brisbane accountant Tony Schiffmann is stepping into a new national role at BDO following a decision earlier this year to merge the Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane offices of the accountancy firm.

Mr Schiffmann, who has held the position of office managing partner in Brisbane for the past 20 years, will be chief executive partner of BDO at the completion of the merger.

Mr Schiffmann will work with other partners to complete the integration of the firm, with a focus on improved effectiveness, greater collaboration, growth opportunities for staff and enhanced client service.

He also will be responsible for ensuring ongoing discussions with other BDO offices around the country with the view to creating a fully integrated firm.

“I am delighted to have been appointed and am looking forward to working with our leaders to realise the many benefits that will come from operating as an integrated practice in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane,” said Mr Schiffmann.

“I am excited by the opportunity to lead BDO’s successful growth ambitions at a strategic level and guide our future integration plans, two things I am very passionate about.”

Steven Sorbello will replace Mr Schiffmann as office managing partner in Brisbane

Mr Sorbello, who has been at BDO for more than 23 years, is currently a corporate finance partner managing large and complex transactions.
