Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has snapped at Today Show co-host Ally Langdon during a tense interview about Scott Morrison.

Mr Albanese appeared on the Today Show on Friday morning to discuss several topics, including the fallout from the revelations that his predecessor secretly appointed himself to five ministries.

Langdon broached the topic by asking the Prime Minister whether he would call a Royal Commission into how all levels of government handled the Covid pandemic.

She then raised John Howard’s comments from earlier in the week, who told Sunrise Mr Albanese should not “get carried away with the scandal” and “stop behaving like an opposition leader”.

Mr Albanese dismissed the comments as those of a “loyal Liberal” and said when he is asked about Mr Morrison he will give an answer.

Langdon went on to question whether “the bloke you beat” should be the Prime Minister’s top priority, considering Australia's energy crisis and homelessness issues.

But Mr Albanese took issue with the assertion and restated that he was only talking about the controversy because Langdon had asked him about it.

“You just asked me the question Ally about Scott Morrison and I gave you the answer,” he snapped back.

“If you ask me a question about inflation or about the economy, I‘ll give you an answer about that as well.

“This isn’t an issue that I chose to raise.”

Langdon quickly moved the conversation onto another topic, the NRL Grand Final remaining in NSW this year.

She pressed the Prime Minister again, but in a much more light hearted fashion.

She accused Mr Albanese of “dodging” her question on if he thought the big dance would be played in Queensland at some stage.

“Look, I think that‘s a matter for the NRL,” he jokingly said back.

“I’m pointing out what my absolute priorities are, which is who is playing in the grand final, not where it is played.

“Frankly, I think a grand final where South Sydney played at Henson Park would do me.”
