A driver who allegedly struck an e-scooter rider while driving a stolen car and dragged him several metres before hitting a wall has been granted bail.
Krystal Lynn Kelly, 38, fronted Brisbane Magistrates Court on Tuesday after her arrest on Monday following her alleged drug-fuelled driving.
Police allege the Pimpama mother was driving a stolen Mitsubishi ASX when it allegedly mounted the footpath at Shafston Ave, near Wellington Rd in East Brisbane and hit the 51-year-old rider.
He was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.
Ms Kelly was charged with a string of offences, including one count of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing grievous bodily harm while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, drug driving while unlicensed, driving without a license, possession of drug utensils and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
Police allege in court documents that Ms Kelly mounted the footpath after failing to negotiate the bend on Shafston Ave.
She allegedly was using her phone at the time.
The car allegedly hit the man from behind, causing his body to hit the bonnet and windscreen of the car.
Court documents reveal the man was allegedly carried on the bonnet of the car for a “short distance” before Ms Kelly hit a wall.
The man was allegedly pinned between the wall and the car before he fell off the vehicle and onto the footpath.
Police will allege Ms Kelly then ran over the man again with the car, before stopping about 5m from where she initially struck him.
The e-scooter was allegedly wedged under the car when she stopped, according to court documents.
Ms Kelly allegedly returned a positive drug test for methamphetamine.
Following the incident, the Mitsubishi ASX which Ms Kelly was allegedly driving was reported as stolen from an Everton Park address, police said.
Police prosecutor Eddie Fraser told the court Ms Kelly’s bail should be refused because she was a risk of reoffending.
However, magistrate Belinda Merrin granted the bail application providing she commits to a number of conditions attached, including reporting twice a week to police and mandatory drug testing.
The matter was adjourned for mention in Brisbane Magistrates Court on February 20.
