Two people have been treated for smoke inhalation following a fire on the top floor of a Sydney apartment block.
The blaze broke out on the 15th floor of the Park Apartments along Oxford St in Darlinghurst just after 5pm Sunday, with emergency services altered by an automatic fire alarm.
Seven fire trucks and 26 firefighters attended, extinguishing the fire by 6.30pm.
A Fire and Rescue New South Wales spokesperson said two people were affected by smoke, and other residents of the building were “protected in place” — meaning they weren’t evacuated.
The damage is understood to be “severe,” with an exact cause yet to be determined.
Images from the scene show fire fighters using a cherry picker to be able to reach the top-floor fire, with black smoke billowing from the building.
