Parents, grandparents and carers are ‘angry and disappointed’ after being forced to queue for a coronavirus testing clinic set up on Brisbane’s southside today.

It comes as a worker at Parklands Christian College at Park Ridge returned a positive COVID-19 result on Tuesday afternoon. It is understood she and a friend had recently returned from travelling interstate and had failed to comply with testing directions.

Both women have since tested positive after returning to Brisbane from Melbourne via Sydney on July 21.

Justin and Carol Robinson brought two of their three children to the testing clinic set up at the school’s sporting complex on Wednesday afternoon. Mr Robinson is a fly-in-fly-out worker and his wife works in aged care.

“I’m concerned because we do care for the elderly and I don’t want to bring anything to work,” Mrs Robinson said.

“We’re doing an amazing job to protect our old people.

“It’s disappointing that someone would do something like this … I keep myself at home to protect others but it’s disappointing others aren’t doing the right thing.”

Mr Robinson has recently undergone surgery and admitted he was a little ‘squeamish’ about getting an infection, but said he held no ill feelings towards the school.

“Our kids have been going here for three years, this isn’t the school’s fault,” he said.

“At the end of the day, everyone is responsible for their own actions and if they did what they did deliberately then justice has to happen.”

Others in the queue also expressed their anger.

“It’s just pathetic, obviously there’s no regard for anyone else,” one man said.

“They should shut the borders … this shows they should have stayed shut.”

Another family said three adult family members had been forced to take the day off work so they could get themselves and their grandchildren and children tested.

“We feel anger and frustration, we’ve had that many warnings and we know what we need to do,” one woman said.

Many praised the school who sent out an email to parents late Tuesday night.

The testing clinic is expected to remain open for anyone concerned about infection.
