Police release image of a man over alleged abduction attempt at Melbourne lake

A woman was walking at a popular lake on Saturday afternoon when she was grabbed from behind in an alleged attempted abduction.

Police have released an image of a man they wish to speak to over an alleged attempt to abduct a woman at a popular lake in Melbourne’s south east.

The 36-year-old woman was walking through the Churchill National Park at Lysterfield Lake after parking at the Army Track main car park, less than a kilometre away, when she was attacked.

The woman was approached from behind about 4.15pm, as she travelled along the North Boundary Track, prior to Stonemasons Track.

The man grabbed the woman around her waist and put a hand put over her mouth.

The man tried to drag her to the ground but the Dandenong North woman managed to escape and run from the area and call triple-0.

The woman was not physically injured during the attack.

Detectives have released a computer-generated image of a man they believe can help with their investigation.

He is 183cm tall, aged between 20-40 and was wearing a grey beanie and grey jumper.
