The man is then alleged to have fled the train at Flinders Railway Station.

The second incident allegedly took place four days later when the same man boarded a city-bound train at Lara railway station – located near Geelong - about 10.10pm.

Police allege he sat next to a 29-year-old woman and performed a sexual act.

The man later disembarked the train at Southern Cross Railway Station.

Investigators have been told the man was wearing a red baseball cap with a Sydney Swans logo, a grey jumper, black shorts and dark runners on both occasions.

Transit Crime Investigation Unit believe the same man was responsible for both incidents.

The man is believed to be caucasian in appearance, with a slim build and short fair hair.

Anyone who recognises the man or has any information regarding the incidents are urged to contact Crime Stoppers.

Investigations are ongoing.
