A man has been hospitalised after allegedly being stabbed in the buttocks by a group of men in Sydney’s west overnight.
Police were called about 7.15pm on Thursday after reports of an assault in a shopping centre carpark on McFarlene Street in Merrylands.
It is alleged a man, 19, was involved in a fight with a group of five other men.
The men – who police allege were armed with a baton and knife – reportedly stabbed him in the buttocks before fleeing the scene in a white BMW.
The 19-year-old man was taken to Westmead Hospital but his injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Police are looking to speak to five men seen in the area who may be able to assist with their investigation.
A NSW Police spokesman said they are described as being of Middle Eastern/Mediterranean appearance with black hair.
