Two people have been charged with murder just days after human remains were found in Queensland’s Glasshouse Mountains.

The skeletal remains are believed to be that of 57-year-old Caboolture woman Donna Howe, who was last seen by family in late April.

Police executed a search warrant at a Balkee Drive address in Caboolture on Wednesday and arrested two men, aged 41 and 31.

Police will allege they are known to Ms Howe.

They were each charged with one count of murder and misconduct with a corpse.

They will appear at Caboolture Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Forensic testing is underway to confirm the remains are those of Donna Howe.

The remains were discovered by four-wheel drivers at around midday on Tuesday along a remote Sunshine Coast forestry track.

Detectives earlier alleged that it appeared the remains were burnt but that it was early in the investigation.

On Tuesday night, the four-wheel drivers took police to where they discovered the remains near Connection Rd in the Beerburrum State Forest.

Sergeant Mansfield said a lighter was found among heavy shrubs.

The remains were sent to Brisbane pathology on Wednesday to determine the cause of death.
