Police have released footage of a luxury car crashing into a service station in Queensland.
An 18-year-old man has been arrested and charged with six offences following what police say was a four-hour joy ride on the Gold Coast on Monday.
Police allege the man stole a white Mercedes-Benz station wagon – valued at round $50,000 – from a Nerang home at 2.10pm before smashing it into the glass doors of a service station on Alexander Drive in Highland Park at 4.30pm.
Just 10 minutes later, the same car was allegedly involved in a hit and run after crashing head-on on with another vehicle on Aurura Crescent in Worongary.
While no one was injured in the crash, the driver allegedly drove off at an erratically high speed and crashed into the garage door of a Tristiania Way home at 5pm.
Police say the luxury vehicle then rammed into a parked car.
They say the man fled the scene before threatening a Southport couple to get out of their car.
The couple refused to give up their vehicle, forcing the man to return to his allegedly stolen vehicle.
The Mercedes was later dumped on Hanlan St in Surfers Paradise.
Using multiple police units and the dog squad, authorities tracked down the man and arrested him on Surfers Paradise Boulevard at 6pm.
The Highland Park man was charged with multiple offences, including dangerous driving, drink-driving and attempted robbery.
He is set to appear in court on Tuesday.
