Cleary masterclass leads Panthers to victory

That’s full-time at Suncorp Stadium where the Panthers have embarrassed the Broncos with a 32-8 victory.

A Nathan Cleary masterclass has delivered Penrith with their third win of the season.

The Panthers are back.

Injury concerns for Cobbo

We’re back in the grind as we enter the final 10 minutes of this match, and the Panthers have almost certainly notched up their third win of the season.

The Panthers don’t need to score points, they just need to defend. And, defence is what they know best.

Injury worries for the Broncos here too to make matters worse, with Selwyn Cobbo limping in back play.

Panthers take dominant lead as Jenkins gets a double

Thomas Jenkins has a double, after Penrith strip the Broncos for numbers on the outside.

Once again Nathan Cleary has a hand in this play, as he sweeps across both sides of the ball to control play.

The cherry on top of that play is Cleary nailing the conversion from the left touch line.

Jenkins scores for Panthers

Yep, that error from Adam Reynolds was costly.

The Panthers go bang and score first in this second half, this time with Thomas Jenkins adding the points after slipping back on the inside of the Broncos defence.

Is it too early to say that’s the final nail in the coffin?

Another failed 40/20 for Reynolds

Adam Reynolds is going for the big plays, but he’s not executing the way Nathan Cleary is.

The Broncos skipper goes for another 40/20 attempt, but yet again sends the ball over the touch line on the full.

Perfect opportunity for the Panthers to score here.

Second half under way

We’re into the final 40 minutes of this match, and if the final five minutes of the first half is anything to go by, then I think we may have an upset on the cards.

I expect Brisbane coach Michael Maguire will have given his team a spray at half-time, after they let Penrith win the arm wrestle in the first half.

The Broncos don’t want to get into the Panthers grind, they want to play fast footy. It’s crucial they score first here.

Cleary scores to give Panthers strong lead at half-time

The Broncos are imploding like it’s the 2023 grand final.

It really is déjà vu, with Nathan Cleary throwing the dummy and slipping back on the inside to score just seconds before half-time.

This is Cleary’s best performance all year, and now he converts his own try from in front.

Half-time: Panthers 20, Broncos 8
