Telling emergency workers and police her "spirit will be with them" Jo-Ann Miller has resigned from the Queensland Cabinet.
The former Police Minister had been demoted on Thursday, after an Ethics Committee report returned a not guilty on contempt verdict, but declared there to be a "pattern of reckless conduct".

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk stepped Ms Miller down from her portfolio on Thursday afternoon, after the Member for Bundamba apologised, at the Ethics Committee recommendation.
But she left open Ms Miller staying in the Cabinet in another capacity. On Friday, Ms Miller took it a step further and quit, moving the the backbench.
Ms Miller did not give a reason for the move, only saying it had been an honour to serve as a minister.
In a statement she released shortly after her speech, Ms Miller expanded on that theme.
"It has been an honour to serve as Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Services and Minister for Corrective Services," she said.
"I have enjoyed working with all my Commissioners, Directors-General, officers and staff across my Portfolio.
"It has been a privilege to stand shoulder to shoulder with them, supporting them as they do what they do best – keeping Queenslanders safe.
"I wish them well in their future endeavours and my spirit will always be with them."
With Ms Miller's move comes a substantial pay cut, losing $161,000 with her ministerial position.
