A WA boy has been left seriously injured after a quad bike accident in Bali.
Joshua Schuetz, affectionately called Joshy, had travelled to the tourist town of Ubud with his family for a soccer tournament.
The family were on a quad biking tour when the accident happened.
More than $30,000 has been donated to help cover medical bills after the accident on Wednesday.
“Joshy had the most unimaginable accident yesterday,” family friend and fundraiser organiser Bernice Ariasa wrote.
“He sustained a fractured skull and brain bleed and was taken to hospital.”
Ariasa said the family’s insurance would only cover his medical evacuation back to Western Australia but not the hospital costs on the ground.
“So far the bill is 60,000 AUD but climbing by the hour that he is in hospital here,” she said.
Josh is in a coma, but stable.
“A team of Australian doctors and nurses are on their way to air lift him back to Perth Children’s Hospital where he will be looked after but the best he can get,” she said.
“We want Joshy to be back to normal so we want to help him get there in whatever way possible. Hundreds of prayers are over our sweet, funny, full-of-life Joshy.”
The Cockburn Wolves Futsal Club took to Facebook in support of their teammate and “little champion”.
“During this challenging time, we invite everyone in our community to come together in solidarity and support,” the post said.
“The Wolves is an inclusive club and we call for all our members from any faith backgrounds to pray for healing and hold space in your heart for Joshy Schuetz and his family.”
