Concerns held for Perth GP missing on Bibbulmun Track since December

By Rebecca Peppiatt

A Perth GP who told family and friends she was walking the Bibbulmun Track with a group in December, has not been heard from since, sparking concerns from WA Police and her family.

Dr Nathalie Casal, 71, deactivated her Facebook account before setting out on the trail four months ago.

Police believe she may have started the walk in Mundaring but have now received information that indicates she may have stopped in the south west town of Northcliffe for supplies last Thursday.

“If that information is correct, it is believed Dr Casal would now be somewhere between Northcliffe and Walpole, on her way to Albany,” a police spokesperson said.

Police said her lack of contact with family was “out of character”.

Her family reported her missing on March 7.

Casal’s nephew Trevor Kirczenow MacDonald pleaded with local hikers to help locate his aunt whom he described as “an extraordinary person, incredibly caring of other humans and animals and also fiercely independent”.

“Before she left on her walk she deactivated her Facebook,” he wrote.

“She made it clear she did not want to be contacted for quite a while.

“It has now been too long and we are very worried.”

MacDonald described his aunt as a vegan who worked as a GP all her life, including in remote areas.

Police are asking people in the area between Northcliffe and Walpole to report any sightings of her.

Dr Casal is described as being approximately 157cm tall, of slim build, with short grey hair and brown eyes.

Anyone who has seen Dr Casal, or has any information in relation to her whereabouts, is urged to contact Police on 131 444.
