Ben Cousins back behind bars after being found sleeping next to a car
Troubled former footballer Ben Cousins is back behind bars after he was arrested reportedly with drugs in his possession in a southern Perth suburb on Wednesday.
Nine News Perth reporter Jerrie Demasi said police first responded to reports of erratic driving in Victoria Park around midday.
Shortly after, officers found Cousins sleeping next to a car at a park near Canning Highway, in the nearby suburb of Kensington.
When officers checked his details they were alerted the former West Coast Eagles star was wanted for questioning over a separate incident.
"Police sources tell me a body search turned up 2.5 grams of methamphetamine," she said.
Cousins was arrested and taken to Kensington police station but police say he became agitated and was driven to the Northbridge lockup.
Just three weeks ago Cousins appeared in a paid television interview with the Seven network where he discussed his struggle with drug addiction and claimed he wanted to turn his life around.
It's the second time he told his story on national television after the documentary Such is Life: The Troubled Times of Ben Cousins was aired on the same network in 2010. At the time, Cousins said he hoped the documentary would serve as a cautionary tale against drug use.
Mr Tudori said he was aware his client was wanted for questioning but had been uncontactable.
Cousins has also been charged with aggravated stalking and 13 charges relating to the breaching of a restraining order of a person known to him which allegedly took place between April 2nd and April 15th.
He was refused bail and will face Armadale Magistrates Court on Thursday.
