Woman badly burned after fire rips through Brisbane unit
A woman is in a critical condition with significant burns after firefighters pulled her from a fierce fire at a unit on Brisbane's northside overnight.
Emergency services were called to Westacott Street in Nundah about 11pm on Sunday and firefighters reported the unit was "well alight" upon arrival.
Firefighters went in and rescued a woman, aged in her 40s, from the burning residence.
Queensland Ambulance Service acting operations supervisor Doug Buchanan said she suffered burns to half her body and was taken to Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in a critical condition.
A man escaped the burning unit and suffered only minor burns and smoke inhalation. He was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in a stable condition.
Another man escaped before the fire took hold and only required minor treatment at the scene, according to Mr Buchanan.
Five fire crews battled the flames for 20 minutes before it was extinguished and they stopped the fire from spreading to adjoining units.
They left the scene about 1am but police scenes of crime officers and fire service investigators were expected to return on Monday for further examination.
