Paraglider dies in crash near Woodford

A paraglider has died after crashing to the ground at a private airfield north west of Brisbane.

Queensland Ambulance Service senior operations supervisor Matt Hannaberry said paramedics were called to the Archer Falls Airport, about 13 kilometres west of Woodford, just before 10am on Sunday, after reports of a serious paragliding accident.

Mr Hannaberry said the man, whose age had been estimated at 34, had suffered severe head and lower limb injuries.

He was unconscious and not breathing when ambulance officers arrived.

They commenced CPR but the man was unable to be revived.

He was pronounced dead at the scene about 20 minutes after paramedics arrived.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
