Men chased into Dreamworld, assaulted after Gold Coast traffic incident

A man has suffered a serious head injury in an alleged road rage incident involving two groups of people at Dreamworld on the Gold Coast

Police reported a two-vehicle crash at the entrance of the theme park about 3.20pm on Monday.

According to police, an altercation then broke out between the occupants of the two vehicles, resulting in one group chasing the other into the park grounds.

Local media reports suggested a hammer or baseball bat was used by one man to strike another.

Police said one group, including the man allegedly responsible for the assault, returned to their vehicle and fled the scene.

Dreamworld staff offered medical assistance to the injured man.

Paramedics arrived at 3.34pm, and assessed three patients, confirming one had suffered a head injury.

All patients were taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in stable conditions.

The other vehicle, a black Holden Commodore, was still at the scene. It had crashed into a brick wall in front of the main Dreamworld entrance and was cordoned off by police tape.

In a statement, Dreamworld said those involved were not patrons of the theme park at the time.

“As this is not an incident involving our guests, we will not be providing further details at this time,” the statement said.

Officers remained at the park entrance on Monday evening, and appealed to the public for more information – including dashcam, CCTV, and mobile phone footage – to come forward.
